Primary response criterion was a fall of 5 or more points in the International Prostate Symptom Score. Pumpkin seed oil (Cucurbita pepo) versus tamsulosin for benign prostatic hyperplasia symptom relief: a single-blind randomized clinical trial. BMC Urology. 2021 Oct 19;21(1):147. 73 patients aged 50 and over, mean age 63.6 years; 360 mg pumpkin seed oil twice daily against 0.4 mg tamsulosin nightly, assessed at baseline, 1 month and 3 months. Both groups showed a significant decrease in IPSS and improvement in quality of life. The fall in IPSS was greater with tamsulosin at 1 and 3 months, while the change from month 1 to month 3 was similar between groups (P = 0.728). No drug side effects were reported in the pumpkin seed group; the tamsulosin group reported dizziness (5.9 percent), headache (2.9 percent), retrograde ejaculation (2.9 percent) and erythema with pruritus. pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/34666728
