Why does the body handle an ordinary meal differently after 40?

What has research found for chromium, berberine and green tea?
Chromium stands on the firmest ground, because its claim has been through the EU's own review of the evidence. Berberine and green tea bring published human trials. All of it is research on the ingredients, not on the Corevalin capsule itself.
Chromium: an authorised claim
The EU Register of nutrition and health claims, under Commission Regulation (EU) No 432/2012, allows chromium to be described as contributing to normal macronutrient metabolism and to the maintenance of normal blood glucose levels. Corevalin carries 100 micrograms of it in every capsule, and that is the backbone the rest of the formula is built on.4
Berberine: a meta-analysis and a 2026 trial
A dose-response meta-analysis by Xiong and colleagues in Complementary Therapies in Clinical Practice (2020) pooled ten trials and found berberine linked to a lower body mass index (by 0.29 kg/m²) and a smaller waist (by 2.75 cm) compared with control groups.5 A 2026 trial goes a step further and pairs berberine with chromium. In this 12-week randomised, double-blind study in Nutrients, Xenos and colleagues gave 93 Greek adults with a high body mass index a combination of berberine, white mulberry leaf and chromium picolinate, or a placebo. The combination group saw a 28% greater improvement in insulin sensitivity, along with larger drops in body mass index (1.24 kg/m²) and body fat (2.35 kg) than placebo. The authors point out that, without single-ingredient groups, the share of each component cannot be separated.6
Green tea: energy spent across a day
In a placebo-controlled crossover study at Laval University, published in the British Journal of Nutrition in 2005, 14 men spent full days in a metabolic chamber while taking capsules of green tea catechins (EGCG) with caffeine. Their 24-hour energy expenditure rose by about 750 kJ compared with placebo.7 Green tea extract is the largest single ingredient in each Corevalin capsule.
How to read these studies. Each one tested ingredients at its own study dose, not the finished capsule. In Corevalin, berberine at 85 mg and green tea extract at 154 mg are supporting amounts inside an eleven-ingredient formula built around chromium. Treat the research as the reason each ingredient earned its place on the panel, and the 30-day refund on sealed bottles as your way to judge the full blend for yourself.

What would I check first if I were ordering Corevalin today?
The panel, before anything else. Corevalin prints all eleven amounts, from 154 mg of green tea extract down to 1 mg of resveratrol, so you know exactly what you are taking with breakfast before a single capsule arrives.
Then the chromium line. It is the one ingredient here whose claim, the maintenance of normal blood glucose levels, has been through the EU's own evidence review. Building a daily capsule on that, with berberine and apple cider vinegar around it, is a sensible design for anyone over 40 who wants a single morning habit rather than a shelf of separate tubs.
